This is the replacement gear for the original ABS (see note) plastic gear in the Kimball Electramatic Model E and F Transmission. The new gear is made out of a blend of Nylon and PLA (poly lactic acid). There are 42 teeth on the outside gear and 24 teeth on the inside gear. The cost is $85.00. Each gear is meticulously honed, properly lubricated, and bench tested before being sold. Some information about removing/replacing the transmission is located here (page is not completed yet). To place an order, Click Here. The six nuts, bolts, and lock washers are available for an additional $8.00. Also, we will install the gear in the gear box for an additional $75.00 (labor charge). If you send the entire transmission assembly, add $40.00 (labor charge). Questions: Contact John Tuttle

10-year Guarantee (10 times longer than the original Kimball Guarantee).

The new nylon/PLA gears arrived on December 27, 2017.

The new gear is the very white one. This gear is very quiet. Compare the quality to the off-white original nylon gear between the new gear and the metal gear.

This is a reference video that shows the noise of the old brass replacement gear that we use to offer.

NOTE: The original black ABS plastic gear proved to be problematic in the Kimball transmission because it is a petroleum-based material with a short molecular structure. As such, the grease that Kimball used to lubricate the gears eventually softened the gear, which caused it to fail. The Nylon gears (the first primary motor gear and the third gear) are impervious to softening with grease and many other chemicals. See: Chemical Interaction Chart.

The gear is lubricated with a spaceage lubricant called Dow Corning 111. This is a pure silicon grease that has been used to lubricate seals and other moving parts in space craft. It was chosen because of its inert chemical properties. Unlike common types of grease, it will never harden or become gummy.

Since "Player-Care" is an internet business, I prefer that we correspond via E-Mail (click here to fill out the 'Request Form'). However, if I'm not in the middle of some other activity, you can reach me at 732-840-8787. But please understand that during the hours from 8AM-5PM EST (Mon-Sat), I'm generally quite busy. So, I probably won't answer the phone. If you get the answering machine, please leave a detailed message stating the reason for your call. Also, repeat your name and phone number clearly and distinctly. By necessity, I prioritize everything in my life. And, if you call and just leave your name and number, and ask me to call you back, it might be a day or two before I return your call. Why? Because I don't know why you want me to call and I might not be prepared to assist you in an effective and efficient manner. If you leave me an E-Mail address (which I prefer), spell it out phonetically. The more you do to help me, the more I can help you in return. Don't rush. You have four minutes to record your message.
