Standard Tracking Device Gasket Set

This set of gaskets for the Standard roll tracking device have never been available. They are made from a foam-type valve material that was recommended by Craig Brougher, who has been professionally restoring mechanical musical instruments for over 50 years. The material is 1/16" thick and has excellent sealing qualities. It conforms easily to slight irregularities in wooden surfaces due to its ability to compress down to 1/64". The cost per set is $26.00. To place your order, click here and type 'STDG' in the Comments Box.

While the original leather gaskets had to be glued in place to create an air-tight seal, our tests have proven that this gasket material does not require any glue to function properly. This is especially beneficial when considering that it is sometimes necessary to disassemble the tracking device after it has been restored to make slight changes in valve clearances or to replace a pouch that isn't working quite right. (Those who have successfully restored a Standard tracker know how difficult it can be to get the pouches set 'just right'.) To place your order, click here and type 'STDG' in the Comments Box.

As late as 1985, a similar set of cork gaskets (part number 698) was available from Player Piano Co., in Wichita, Kansas. However, in terms of the hole spacing, these die cut gaskets were not well made. Also, there were complaints about the sealing capability of the cork. (In the Standard tracker, the gaskets must be 99.9% air-tight.) As a result of these problems and the costs associated with making a new set of dies, the set was discontinued. The new gaskets are cut to exacting specifications with a laser cutter. And, because of the 'forgiving' nature of the gasket material (unlike cork -which is not very forgiving), even if the positions of the screw holes in the tracker box are slightly different, the gasket will work perfectly. We are so sure that these gaskets will function properly that we are offering a 100% money-back guarantee. To place your order, click here and type 'STDG' in the Comments Box.

Since "Player-Care" is an internet business, I prefer that we correspond via E-Mail (click here to fill out the 'Request Form'). However, if I'm not in the middle of some other activity, you can reach me at 732-840-8787. But please understand that during the hours from 8AM-5PM EST (Mon-Sat), I'm generally quite busy. So, I probably won't answer the phone. If you get the answering machine, please leave a detailed message stating the reason for your call. Also, repeat your name and phone number clearly and distinctly. By necessity, I prioritize everything in my life. And, if you call and just leave your name and number, and ask me to call you back, it might be a day or two before I return your call. Why? Because I don't know why you want me to call and I might not be prepared to assist you in an effective and efficient manner. If you leave me an E-Mail address (which I prefer), spell it out phonetically. The more you do to help me, the more I can help you in return. Don't rush. You have four minutes to record your message.
