Euphona Linkage Adjustment

Reference Materials

Adjusting the Cable Euphona Play/Reroll Linkage

Refer to the pictures below

As you might have already surmised, when in Reroll, the arm should be fully in the notch when the slider is moved all the way to the right. Also, the pointer should point to the small area marked Reroll on the Tempo Indicator.

Due to the high amount of friction/drag in this particular system, it's not uncommon for the arm to twist out of position on the shaft. Once the Reroll setting is correctly set, all of the other settings on the Silent/Tempo Indicator should fall in line correctly. If the Tempo settings aren't correct, but the pointer travels from '0' to '130' (last mark is '120'), the Tempo can be adjusted at the Tempo Control Box by repositioning the sliding valve inside the box via the leather nuts (17 and 19). If the Tempo speeds up or slows down when more or less pumping pressure is applied (via the foot pumps), the spring tension on the Air Motor Governor should be adjusted. Decreasing the tension will slow the tempo under heavy pumping. If the music tries to play when the system is in Reroll, adjust the position of the sliding valve inside the Action Cut-Out using the leather nuts (16 and 18).

Without actually being there to see what's happening, it's impossible for me to know where something came loose. It could be anywhere from the lever in front of the keys to the arm on the vertical shaft. However, my recommendation is to get the lever in front of the keys to correspond correctly with the Silent/Tempo Indicator first. Then adjust the arm and the slider. Then the Action Cut-Out. Then the Air Motor Governor. When adjusting the governor, select a tempo of about 70. Then adjust the Tempo Control Box so it conforms to the Test Roll.

Since "Player-Care" is an internet business, I prefer that we correspond via E-Mail (click here to fill out the 'Request Form'). However, if I'm not in the middle of some other activity, you can reach me at 732-840-8787. But please understand that during the hours from 8AM-5PM EST (Mon-Sat), I'm generally quite busy. So, I probably won't answer the phone. If you get the answering machine, please leave a detailed message stating the reason for your call. Also, repeat your name and phone number clearly and distinctly. By necessity, I prioritize everything in my life. And, if you call and just leave your name and number, and ask me to call you back, it might be a day or two before I return your call. Why? Because I don't know why you want me to call and I might not be prepared to assist you in an effective and efficient manner. If you leave me an E-Mail address (which I prefer), spell it out phonetically. The more you do to help me, the more I can help you in return. Don't rush. You have four minutes to record your message.
