(August 14, 2004)
Every so often something happens in this business that I don't like to report. However, the best way to handle any unpleasant situation is head-on. So, here's the bad news. As of August 14, 2004, QRS changed the way they allow non-stocking dealers to do business. As a consequence, shipping costs and delivery times have increased. I suggest that you print this page for handy reference. To continue ordering - Click Here! To begin with, rolls will no longer be drop-shipped directly from the QRS factory to your home. All rolls must now pass through my business (Player-Care) here in Brick, New Jersey. This means that the rolls have to be shipped twice. First to me, and then on to you. This is unavoidable. Having checked out the whole situation very thoroughly, I'm convinced that the least expensive carrier is the US Postal System. Since music rolls are considered "printed music", they qualify for the lowest rate the USPS offers, which is Media Mail. Unfortunately, parcels sent via Media Mail take a bit longer to arrive than they do if they are shipped via UPS, FedEx, or USPS Parcel Post. Therefore, it is estimated that most orders shipped via USPS Media Mail will take about 10-14 days to reach their final destination, once the order has been processed at Player-Care. Also, since the exact weight of the order cannot be accurately known by me until after I receive the order, you will not be charged for shipping until after I receive the billing invoice from QRS (usually 2-3 days after I receive the rolls). Unfortunately, QRS will only ship the rolls to me via UPS, but they get charged a very low rate. So, the cost of shipping the rolls to me is 40% less than the standard UPS rate. Also, QRS still charges all non-stocking roll dealers a $4.25 Packing Fee per order. These charges are passed along to the customer. To continue ordering - Click Here! Here's how it works. During the Verification Process, I will give you an estimate of the shipping charge based on the average weight of QRS music rolls. After you verify the accuracy of your order and accept the estimated shipping charge, you will be charged for the music rolls and the QRS Packing Fee ($4.25). After the rolls are shipped to you and I get the invoice from QRS, you will be charged for shipping. Now here's the good news. You will NEVER be charged more than the Estimated Shipping Charge. If the Estimated Shipping Charge is LOWER than the actual cost, you will only pay the estimated charge. But, if the final charge is LESS than the estimate (which is common), you will be charged the lesser amount. To continue ordering - Click Here! Sadly, there is one down side to using USPS Media Mail. Parcels sent by Media Mail cannot be tracked or traced. However, they can be Insured. So, for those who want to be able to track their order, I have established an account with UPS. To use UPS as the carrier, select that Option when you place your order. Understand that UPS charges approximately 50% more than the USPS Media Mail for the same size order. Please understand that by default, all orders will be sent via UPS unless you select another Option. All Shipping Options are available on the revised Secure Order Form. Having checked all of this out very carefully, I'm still positive that buying rolls through Player-Care is still less expensive than buying rolls through QRS or any other major online retailer. Our standard 15% discount rate almost always covers the additional cost of shipping. However, if I find that you will save money by ordering directly from QRS, I will recommend that you buy the rolls from them, and I'll give you their toll-free phone number. To continue ordering - Click Here! There is one more shipping option that is not listed on the Order Form or anywhere else at Player-Care. It involves a little known service called "Airmail M-Bag", and the service is offered by the US Postal System. Since it is difficult to explain the service on this web page, I have made up another page which chronicles the procedure and limits of the service. To view that web page - Click Here! To continue ordering - Click Here! Also, be aware that most foreign countries have Import Duties, Customs Fees or a Value Added Tax (VAT). Paying these taxes is the responsibility of the customer. From the information I've have gathered from my overseas and non-US customers, it seems that the average tax is around 17% of the purchase price. To continue ordering - Click Here!
NOTE:
Extended Play (XP) rolls always end with a letter, like A, B, or C. |
