These days those with slower computers and those in a bit of a hurry are simply turning "OFF" the graphics in the Options Menu. Most graphics are a pretty or boastful "picture" that a well paid graphics specialist spent hours creating to catch your attention. What, I believe, the "creators" have failed to realize is that they caught "our" attention "one click ago" and all they really have to do is "keep it" long enough to "sell" or "inform" us. Rarely will they accomplish that task if "we", the potential customer, are forced to wait for two, three four or more 10 to 50K graphics of........whatever !!! This is especially if you're paying for access time by-the-minute............... OUCH !!!
Even a guy like me, who knows virtually nothing about web page writing or editing, sort of figured out how to use the space where the graphics were "going to go". This change was intended to make the page 100% usable from the moment the page was loaded.
Think of the possibilities for making another statement to your viewers "while" they wait for the graphics.
If you truly don't know what I'm talking about, you can view what I tried first hand at my Example Page. BEFORE YOU CLICK--TURN OFF THE GRAPHICS-- (I warned you!) I modified the format (if you want to call it that) in less than an hour (maybe only thirty minutes) including the upload time. It should take less that 5 seconds to load at 1-2 kbs/sec without the graphics but about 80 seconds with graphics.
At this point, I must say that I have viewed my "presentation" on two other browsers besides my Netscape 3 and it's not the same so there I more here than just a few more keystrokes. That being so, I feel certain someone will figure it out and then advertise and market a product to address the problems
You can see, if you select the Document Source from the View Menu, that there is no genius at work here. I just thought it would be considerate of me to utilize "the space" for something constructive or useful while the viewer waits and/or has the graphics turned off.
Furthermore, I would truly love to see EVERYBODY adopt this change but I realize that only a very small number of people are going to see this page unless I can pay for its placement through PostMaster or some other such service. I utilized Submit-It to get it this far but financial support will help me spread the word much faster and to a much larger audience.

give me your E-mail address. Most likely I'll give a progress report
with my return reply.
